What decides your final MacBook repair cost

Three things move the price most.

• Model and year. A 2015 MacBook Air screen and a 16-inch MacBook Pro screen are very different parts, which is why screen replacement ranges from ₹6,499 to ₹37,999.
• What actually failed. On most MacBooks the glass and display are bonded, so a cracked screen means replacing the display assembly. A worn display cable (flexgate), on the other hand, costs far less to fix than a new screen.
• One part or a whole assembly. For example, a swollen battery can lift the trackpad, so the real fix is sometimes a battery replacement instead of a new trackpad. We check the battery first, so you don’t pay for a part that isn’t the problem.

MacBook flexgate (display cable) repair

Price from ₹5,499, warranty up to 1 year. Flexgate is a known issue on 2016 to 2017 MacBook Pro models, where the display cable wears out. You’ll see a “stage light” effect at the bottom of the screen, or the display fails when the lid opens past about 40°. Where possible, we replace the display cable instead of the whole screen.

MacBook SSD upgrade

Should you repair or replace your MacBook?

Is it worth repairing an old MacBook?

Usually yes, when the repair costs well under the price of a new MacBook. A new battery or an SSD upgrade can make a 2015 to 2019 MacBook fast and usable again. If the logic board has failed on a very old model, we’ll tell you honestly when replacing the laptop makes more sense, even if that means no repair for us.

Battery: repair when these signs appear

Most MacBook batteries last about 1,000 charge cycles. Replace the battery if you see a “Service Recommended” warning in Battery settings, if it dies at 20 to 30%, or if it won’t last an hour unplugged. If the battery looks swollen, or the trackpad or bottom case is lifting, stop using the MacBook and bring it in.

Screen: when it is a screen, and when it is something else

A cracked screen after a drop needs a display replacement. Lines, black patches or colour bleed can come from the panel or from the display cable. On 2016 to 2017 MacBook Pro models, a “stage light” effect at the bottom of the screen points to flexgate, where replacing the display cable costs less than a whole new screen.

Spilled liquid: what to do in the first minutes

Turn the MacBook off, unplug it and don’t switch it back on. Place it upside down in a tent shape and don’t use a hair dryer. Liquid starts corroding the logic board within hours, so book a liquid damage repair as soon as possible; waiting lowers the chance of saving the laptop and your data.

MacBook not turning on

This is usually a battery, charging circuit or logic board fault. We test the charger, battery and board separately, so you pay only for the part that actually failed. Our logic board repair works at chip level, replacing a failed component such as a power IC instead of the full board, which can reduce the cost.

Your data and your Apple ID

Screen, battery, keyboard and port repairs don’t touch your data. Logic board and SSD work can carry some risk, so back up with Time Machine, iCloud or an external drive first whenever your MacBook still powers on. We never need your Apple ID password for diagnosis or hardware repair, so never share it with anyone.
